Country Club Spanish Contemporary
A once multi-leveled Spanish residence was reimagined through a meticulous, comprehensive renovation. The incorporation of a newly excavated basement transformed this home previously defined by disjointed additions into a cohesive estate, elevating its spatial flow and functionality. The result was a refined, unified residence that embodies the hallmarks of a true luxury lifestyle in California.
The homeowners engaged us to rethink a floor plan that no longer supported their lifestyle as they considered a full renovation of their Spanish-style residence. Their goal was to retain the architectural framework and spirit of a Spanish home while introducing a more refined, contemporary interior.
The project evolved into a true generational transformation—expanding the existing program to meet their needs while establishing a renewed sense of character suited to a home defined by space, light, and sweeping views. Positioned to overlook layered vistas of the golf course, village, and the Pacific Ocean, the reconfigured plan strategically places primary living areas and bedrooms along the view-facing frontage.

A newly expanded basement was carefully tucked into the hillside, creating space for a gym, curated wine cellar, laundry, and elevator, all while preserving seamless indoor–outdoor connections. Pocketing sliding doors allow the main living spaces to fully open to decks and covered porches oriented toward the coastline.
The site itself was comprehensively reimagined, with terraced outdoor levels that integrate a new pool and pool house. These layered entertaining spaces are designed to engage the full range of vistas, allowing each zone to capture a distinct perspective of the surrounding landscape.
