La Jolla Scenic Spanish Estate
Set on a 1-acre sloping lot near the top of La Jolla Scenic Drive, this large Spanish estate was a speculative build for one of our custom home clients.
Evoking the distinctive Californian Spanish Estate vernacular, the home takes advantage of the site’s topography to minimize visibility from the street and enhance estate style living. Terracing down the landscape, the house was sited to maintain privacy from the street and create an intimate entry courtyard, while shaded outdoor patios frame the expansive pool deck that celebrates the Southern California weather. A separate pool cabana was also designed with the relaxed lifestyle in mind, ideal for casual entertaining and dining al fresco.
Working with an amazing team of craftsmen, the quality of construction cannot be understated, as the home was built to highest standards and sustainability, ultimately achieving a LEED Silver rating for energy efficiency.

Terra cotta roofs, stained rough timber beams highlight the contrast against the Santa Barbara finish stucco walls indicative of the style.
The use of precast stone, heritage wood flooring, exposed stained wood beams, and tile roofing all goes towards honoring the tradition of Spanish architecture yet within the context of modern living and entertaining.
